Madaripur, Jun 22 (bdnews24.com)—Transport workers in Madaripur enforced a strike for indefinite period on Friday in protest against police assault on them.

On Thursday night, 25-30 youths from Bagerparh forcefully tried to enter the circus at a trade fair at the local stadium, Madaripur Sadar Police Station Officer in Charge Mohammad Moniruzzaman told bdnews24.com.

rahinga with police," he said and added police intervened when they tried to break the shower of the stadium.
They attacked the police stall and beat up four police personnel, he claimed.

Riot police went to the area afterwards and took the situation under control by charging baton, the OC added.
Rahinga But, Madaripur Road Transport Workers Union General Secretary Mizanur Rahman said at least 20 transport workers were injured as police suddenly charged baton.

"We've stopped operation on all routes from Madaripur from 6am protesting (the attack)," he said.
